Lets be honest, Women always seem to put themselves down the most. We forget to cherish ourselves and always get caught up in an image that society wants us to be. Furthermore, we get caught up in our day to day life and make it our mission to overcome every little task that is placed in our path. Sometimes we need to stop worrying about what others think and give ourselves some TLC. In today’s blog post I am going to be sharing with you 25 ways we can be kind to ourselves and improve our personal development.
The best feeling in the world is going to the mall and just splurging on yourself. I’m not materialistic but being able to give yourself what you want is a great way to show yourself some appreciation for your wins. Buy yourself those shoes you’ve been wanting or that beautiful dress you saw online.
2. Compliment yourself.
There’s no greater compliments than the ones we give ourselves. Complimenting ourselves builds up our confidence. I honestly have to give pep-talks to myself each morning before getting out of bed. Fortunately, giving yourself pep-talks is great for your personal development.
3. Go on a walk.
This took me a while to realize but going out on a walk or even on a hike can be a great stress reliever. I wasn’t a big fan of hiking but my husband pushed me into trying it out. I’ve been hooked on hiking ever since. We can’t go a weekend without going on a small hike.
4. Do some Yoga.
Yoga is a great way to relieve physical stress. Starting off your day with some yoga in the morning will definitely start you off in the right state of mind.
5. Take a long bath.
Did you have a tough day? Relax and take a bath. Taking baths is one of my all time favorite things to do for myself. I turn on some candles, add some bubbles and even some flowers just to add to the mood.
6. Stop comparing yourself.
Comparing ourselves to others is so stressful. It’s so easy to get caught up in the habit of comparing each other. I get it, I do it too. However, comparing ourselves puts us down instead of building us up. Instead of comparing yourself to that super successful girl start congratulating her! If someone has a win don’t feel down in the blues. You’ll soon be celebrating your own win. We all have different goals and achievements so don’t fret my friend your victory is soon to come.
7. Listen to inspiring podcasts.
Podcasts are a great way to give your mind some TLC. There’s many inspiring podcasts out there to listen to. I love listening to entrepreneur and personal development podcasts the most. They make me want to get out of bed and accomplish something great!
8. Don’t be afraid to say NO.
I struggled with saying NO my whole life. Sometimes we get caught up in helping others and end up with endless tasks on our to do list. Don’t be afraid to say NO to tasks that are not beneficial to you. It’s great to help others but it’s also great to take care of our own sanity.
9. Get out of your comfort zone.
Try something new for once! It’s scary to get out of the everyday routine. I get it. However, it’s also great to change it up once in a while. Instead of going home, go on a new adventure. Even better take a long trip!
10. Give yourself a makeover.
I don’t know about you but a makeover always makes me feel more confident. I always feel like I can conquer anything after that. Maybe make-up has super powers..who knows.
11. Go out with some friends.
As we get older we start to gear away from friendships. Most of the time it’s not on purpose. We all have busy lives and it’s bound to happen. I’ll admit, I’m very guilty of canceling dates with friends. Nevertheless, don’t let your busy lives ruin valuable friendships. Take some time out of your schedule to visit an old friend.
12. Read a new book.
Finding new reads is one of my favorite things to do. Seriously I can spend hours looking for a great book on amazon . Once I find a good read I can spend days stuck inside that book.
13. Eat healthier.
Eating healthier really does make a difference. When I started making healthier eating choices I noticed that I was less tired than before. I also noticed that my mood changed for the better! Be kind to your body and start a healthier diet. Your body will thank you in the long run.
14. Exercise more.
Exercise is a great stress reliever. I’m going to be completely honest and say that I DON’T exercise every single day. However, I try to get it into my schedule at-least twice a week. (Well, I did before I got pregnant.)
15. Be more understanding towards others.
Don’t judge a book by it’s cover. Sometimes people are going through a rough time but they tend to express it in a way that makes you not want to be around them. Try not to judge right away. Instead try to be more understanding and give them the space they need. It’ll save you the stress of worrying too much.
16. Get off the grid for a day.
Spend a day off of the internet world. Turn off your social media and have a detox day. Detoxify yourself from the social media madness and go to the park or read your favorite book.
17. Go to a spa.
Call your best girlfriend and have a spa day! Doesn’t that sound relaxing already?!
18. Draw or Paint.
When I’m feeling blue I really enjoy taking out my sketchbook and getting lost in my own doodles. This can also be a great way to find inspiration.
Meditation is great for us and comes with many benefits. People have found that meditation reduces anxiety attacks. It also introduces your body to a deeper level of physical relaxation.
20. Keep a Journal.
Believe it or not, journaling has many benefits. Apart from it being a healing and goal setting tool, Journaling can help you gain emotional intelligence and even boost your communication skills. Journaling can also be useful for self growth and personal development.
21.Call a friend you haven’t talked to in a while.
Catching up with old friends is always a good idea. Call a friend you haven’t talk to in a while and let them know how much you appreciate it them.
22. Take a nap.
First of all, I was totally against taking naps at first. The idea of napping was a total waste of time to me. However, my husband convinced me to give them a try. Surprisingly, naps can boost your mood and recharge your energy. Short naps can also can help lower tension and reduces the risk of heart disease. I seriously can’t go a day without a nap now.
23. Stay away from negative people.
This is something that I try to do every single day. I try not to pay attention to negative people. I suggest you do the same. Once you start paying attention to negative people they try to pull you into their negative state of mind. Instead try to be as positive as you can and focus on your own personal development.
24. Watch your favorite romantic comedy.
I love sitting down on a cozy afternoon to watch my favorite movie. It clears my mind from worries and reminds me to just relax.
25. Believe and Accept Yourself.
Finally, the most important way to be kind to yourself is to accept and believe in yourself. In order to believe in yourself you have to want the best for yourself. Have faith in your own abilities and learn to celebrate your wins no matter how small. Also, accept yourself as you are. We all have many strengths but we also have many weaknesses. Learn to accept those weaknesses as much as you already accept your strengths.
In conclusion, be kind to yourself because there’s only one person who will thank you in the long run- and that is you. Have faith in your own abilities and learn to accept yourself as you are. After all, you’ll always have a relationship with yourself so might as well make it a healthy one.
