Working from home can be such a wonderful thing. Who wouldn’t love creating what they love and making an income from the comfort of their own home?! However, let’s be real! Staying in a comfy home all day can definitely lead to procrastination.After trials and error of building my own morning routine I can finally say I feel like a total girl boss! A couple of years ago, having a morning routine wasn’t too important to me. If i got things done then cool and if I didn’t then those things would just get pushed back to the next day. Oh boy have times changed! I have too many priorities to push things back now and I honestly DO NOT know what I would do without a morning routine.
Are you ready to start feeling like a girl boss? Here are some things that you can do to start my mornings feeling like a real girl boss.
EMBRACE THE LIGHT + MAKE THE BED
Open your blinds and let some light shine in. It is the first thing you should do before anything else. It’s a small reminder that the day has just begun and that there is so much you can get done. Another thing that can help you feel accomplished is making your bed. Every time that I make my bed in the morning I feel the sense of accomplishment. (it might just be me but an unmade bed= a scrambled mind.)
GIVE YOUR FACE SOME TLC
The best way to fully wake up is by having a splash of cold water hit your face. I love washing and cleansing my face in the mornings. It gives me a little wake up call. Also, please don’t forget to brush your teeth! This is something that can easily be forgotten especially if you plan on staying home all day. However, do not forget to do this, why? because personal hygiene duh! Girl bosses should have great oral hygiene even if the only thing you talk to that day is your cat.
FUEL YOUR BODY
Breakfast is so important for a day full of productivity. Stay energized with some oatmeal or even a smoothie! Whatever you decide to have that morning please do not skip out on breakfast. I used to skip out on breakfast and I would find myself breaking my workflow to make trips to the kitchen. Don’t do that! Also, while you’re making yourself some breakfast don’t forget to make some coffee. I don’t know about you but I CANNOT function without my morning coffee.
SKIP THE PJ’S
Even if you don’t plan on making any trips out that day it is important to get out of your Pj’s! Get dressed and ready for the day ahead of you. Honestly, you will feel way more productive and confident to get things done. Even though PJ’s are so comfy they are not girl boss material! So skip them completely and glam up a little.
PLAN OUT YOUR DAY
I cannot live without my daily planner. When I don’t use my daily planner I feel like a total mess. Every morning I take about 15 minutes to plan out my day. I also take another 30-45 minutes to sketch out blog posts and future projects. It gets me so motivated before having to sit down in front of the computer screen.
START YOUR DAY-TACKLE YOUR TO DO LIST
After following your morning rituals, it is time to tackle your to-do list. By now you should be motivated to have a day full of productivity. Also, don’t forget to take small breaks throughout the day and of-course don’t skip lunch! Treat your day as you would if you were working a normal day job. Slacking off is not an option even when you get to work from the comfort of your home.
