I’ve had you in my life for exactly 365 days. Yes, 365 DAYS. Today you turn one and I have to say that it feels exactly how I thought it would feel; bittersweet. Every single day spent by your side has brought me nothing but joy, happiness and growth. You see, I thought I knew love before I felt the love of motherhood. You came into the life of your dad and I and everything we thought we knew about love fell into a new perspective. You have taught us unconditional love even in the darkest of times. If I’m being quite honest, it’s been a tough year full of transitions, failures and change. Through all that, we wouldn’t change a thing. Everything that we have gone through this year has taught your dad and I that family will always come first. Through your eyes, I’ve seen tenderness, love and vulnerability. You’ve loved me far before you met me and I fell in love all over again the day that I finally held you in my arms. Every day since that day, I’ve seen you bloom into a beautiful human being. You are the most happiest, spirited, silliest and loving baby. There will never be enough words to even start to explain how much I love you. My love for you is so deep and I just want you to know that you are the best thing that has happened to your dad and I. Thank you for loving us the way that you do and for showing us that life with you is an unpredictable, wonderful, and full of love adventure. Happiest of birthdays my little warrior!
Your first month of life was made up of days where we just snuggled in bed together and slept for hours. You loved snuggles from both mommy and daddy.
At 2 months, you became a little more aware of your surroundings and would stay awake longer periods of time. You also had the cutest facial expressions. One of our favorites was when you would smile in your sleep.
At 3 months, I enjoyed all the snuggles I could get! You still slept a lot during the day and stayed up a lot during the night. So, we decided to sleep train you!
At four months, You stayed close to my heart because we spent our productive days baby wearing. I would sit at my computer, cook and even clean with you! I soaked it up for as long as I could. You also slept through the WHOLE night which was great for mommy and daddy.
At 5 months, we finally established a set daily routine. We would wake up together and start our day. Our day was filled with music, reading and lots and lots of snuggles. You also loved to help me in the kitchen during meal preps! We had the time of our lives together!
At 6 months, you loved to giggle and laugh at the camera. You and I did everything together! This was also the time that mommy had to go back to work after being home with you for your first 6 months of life. It was a very hard transition for all of us.
At 7 months, you started to show us a lot of your likes and dislikes. We discovered that you loved strawberries and really disliked spinach. I visited you at daycare during my lunch hour for almost a month. I loved seeing you and giving you extra snuggles that always seemed to help me get through my day.
The end of the summer and you only kept growing! We took a couple small trips before the summer ended. Some of your favorite were the LA Zoo, going to the pool and hiking up to see a waterfall and even picnics at the park.
At 9 months, you explored many different foods and eating time became one of your favorites. During this time, was when we discovered your goofy yet loving personality.
At 10 months, we did many fall-ish activities with you! You spent your first halloween dressed up as a little lion and even had a matching book character outfit with momma.
At 11 months, you discovered your love for songs and anything that had to do with music. You also discovered many of your favorite foods and your love for ketchup!
This month you started to stand! You also discovered that you love dancing in mommy’s and daddy’s arms. This month, you also discovered your love for vanilla yogurt! Mama and dada quickly became one of your favorite words to use!
It was a beautiful year filled with love and growth. We love you from the bottom of our heart. Thank you for teaching your dad and I a different kind of pure love. We cant wait to have many more adventures with you. We love you our sweet, sweet boy!
