Expecting a child is such a wonderful and life changing experience. Many women portray pregnancy as it being a walk at the park. I’m here to tell you that is not the case. During pregnancy some really weird things can happen to your body. I’ve been experiencing some crazy stuff!Today’s blog post is all about 10 pregnancy symptoms that no one ever warns you about.
So by now you probably know that I’m expecting my very first child. It’s been such a crazy rollercoaster! Don’t get me wrong I am so happy to finally have my own child but- OH BOY! Some of the symptoms that I’ve experienced are just insane. I wish someone would of sat me down and told me “Look girl, pregnancy ain’t always sprinkles and cupcakes!” If I would of known I think I would of been way more prepared- mentally and physically.
So lets get into it! These are the ten insane symptoms I’ve experienced during my first trimester:
1. Vivid Dreams
Be ready for the crazy intense dreams. Like for real. I’ve never experienced dreams like the ones I’ve gotten during my pregnancy. I had horrible nightmares throughout my first trimester. After a while the nightmares disappeared but the dreams kept on rolling. I am currently 16 weeks and there’s not a single night that I don’t dream.
2. Burping All the Time
Be ready to burp like a man. It’s sounds like a joke but I’m beyond serious. Burping has become a normal everyday thing for me. I would totally be okay with it if I didn’t sound like a total pig.
At the beginning of my second trimester I developed Insomnia. It was a crazy shift from being tired ALL the time to being awake all night long. Fortunately, I am happy to say that the insomnia is getting better as each day goes by.
4. Skin Irritation
For some crazy reason my skin has been super irritated. At first I thought it was because of the horrible humid weather. Occasionally, my arms and legs start to rash out even when the weather is bearable. I finally came to the conclusion that it wasn’t the sun that was causing this annoying symptom.
5. Morning sickness really means nausea and vomiting ALL day.
Believe me it was a big surprise for me too. When I first started experiencing nausea I thought “okay, I think I can handle a little morning sickness.” Boy, was I wrong. My morning sickness was ALL DAY LONG! The worst feeling in the world is vomiting after a delicious meal. Fortunately, my morning sickness is now completely gone. Thank goodness.
6. Be prepared to have acne
Oh yes. Be prepared to break out like crazy. Some women experience the “pregnancy glow” but that wasn’t the case for me. During the first trimester my skin was just horrible.
7. Vag Discharge Madness
Sounds gross. It is gross. Regardless of it being gross it is completely normal during pregnancy. I had no idea it was normal until I started experiencing it.
8. Endless Gas
Passing gas is also a very normal pregnancy symptom. Did you know that? I for one did not! It happens more than it should. My husband has very much gotten used to it now.
9. Increased sense of smell
I feel like I have special animal senses. I can smell EVERYTHING! My sense of smell has increased enormously. I currently hate the smells I used to love. Although, it seems that I also love the smells I used to hate. It’s horrible I know.
10. Hungry all the time
At the start of my second trimester I started experiencing what I like to call ” hangry eat or die.” I wake up twice in the middle of night because I’m hungry. Not the typical my stomach is growling hungry but the “I must eat now!” kind of hungry. I also have to eat every hour because if I don’t I feel like I’m going to starve. I know it’s typical to get a bigger appetite once your pregnancy progresses but never did I imagine it would be this intense.
I’ve came to realize that pregnancy is one bizarre adventure. Regardless, pregnancy is such a beautiful and wonderful thing. Don’t get discouraged and immediately decide not to have anything to do with pregnancy. Remember that these symptoms are just temporary and only last a trimester or two. If you do experience something out of the ordinary do not hesitate to call your doctor.
Always remember to enjoy this time of creating a little you inside your body. Also, be okay with the weird things that are happening to your body because it’s such a life changing experience. Once the baby is out and you have your baby in your arms you will want to go through this bizarre adventure all over again.
